2008 Gardening Diary : Bit of a disaster on the tomato front this year. Planted from seed I picked the 6 healthiest plants. 2 were positioned in a plastic greenhouse facing south in the sun. In a grow bag. Watered regularly. With lots of tomato feed. 'Drip fed' while we were on holiday for a week. I probably spent £25 on materials and a great deal of time and effort. And the result : a small plate of hard green tomatoes, most the size of grapes. August was quite cloudy though. Anyway, I'm fed up. I must be the opposite of green fingered. Black fingered ? Whatever I touch dies. I'm sticking with chillies next year as they seem to like me. If you want tomatoes then the supermarket is where they thrive.

Oh good, they have ripened off nicely.
